Motorola Razr Fold vs Galaxy Z Fold 7: Why I Switched and Never Looked Back (2026)

After a month with the Razr Fold, I can't go back to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The Razr Fold is the least compromised foldable I've used, even compared to the Z Fold 7. While the Z Fold 7 struggles with focus and has a telephoto and ultrawide experience that can only be described as embarrassing, the Razr excels. The Razr Fold's design is another highlight. It's 28g heavier and 1.2mm thicker than the Z Fold 7, but I find it more comfortable thanks to the rounded corners and plastic back. The Razr Fold's cameras have personality, something even my Pixel struggles with. The Razr isn't afraid of contrast, and the color profile is lovely. The battery life on the Razr Fold is unbelievable. It can make it a full 48 hours between charges, even with heavy use. The Razr Fold's software is great, with a task switcher that lets you alternate between app carousels and grid layouts. However, the Z Fold 7 still has some magic, particularly in terms of accessory availability. While I love a lot of Motorola's software, there are still parts of One UI that are better, particularly in terms of multitasking. Overall, I'm not excited for any other foldables. The Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra are almost here, but I'm not impressed. Samsung's hardware has been feeling stagnant for years now, and Motorola is embarrassing the Fold 7 at almost every turn. The Razr Fold marks Motorola's entry into book-style foldables with an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO main display and a 6.6-inch cover screen. It features a triple 50MP camera system with periscope zoom, stylus support, and optimized multitasking software. Personally, I think the Razr Fold is a game-changer for the foldable market. It offers a less compromised experience, with better cameras, longer battery life, and a more comfortable design. While the Z Fold 7 still has some magic, particularly in terms of accessory availability, I believe the Razr Fold is the future of foldable technology.
